AFRICAN INSTRUMENTS
About African Instruments

The atenteben is a bamboo flute that originated in the African country of Ghana.  Chiku Awali uses the B flat atenteben in its class instruction.  Students will initially learn to play by ear, but eventually learn to read musical notations.  Other musical instruments, such as the shaker, apitua bell, and Kpalago drum are learned as a part of this course.

If you are interested in joining the Obibini Asafo Orchestra, please let us know of your availability and which instrument you play.  If you currently do not play an African instrument and would like to learn, let us know that as well.
