Chiku Awali African Dance Company of Rockland, Inc.––African Dance Extravaganza Returns to Riverspace Arts in Nyack–Students to Open the Evening Show–
Riverspace will come alive with the sound of drums and the energy of dance at the Annual African Dance Extravaganza on Friday, November 7 at 8:00 p.m.
The evening will include authentic African performers from Ghana, West Africa along with an African dance company from the tri-state area and of course, the Chiku Awali dancers and drummers, including the amazing Dormeshia Sumbry-Edwards, John Mensa Ekor and Jerry Dzokoto.
Students will bring down the house when they open the evening show after attending drumming and dance workshops. Reservations are required so register early to reserve a space!
• Dance Workshop, Thursday, November 6, 2008, from 6:00 – 7:30 p.m.
• Drum Workshop, with Jerry Dzokoto, Friday, November 7, 2008, from 4:00 - 5:30 p.m.
This program is part of the educational commitment that Riverspace has to the community.
